Career Summary

Jud was graduated from Washington State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a major in Real Estate and joined the old Eastman and Allen Company the Monday after. He was awarded the MAI designation in 1986 and two years later formed his own company specializing in larger income and special purpose properties. He became a V.P. and Manager of CB Richard Ellis's Seattle office where he participated in assignments ranging from office towers to regional malls throughout the Western United States. Jud reformed the Clendaniel Company in 1992, again specializing in larger income and special purpose properties. He joined Kidder Mathews Valuation Advisory Services in 2011. He has extensive discounted cash flow as well as leasehold/leased fee analysis experience. He has taught both Real Estate Principals and Advanced Income Capitalization at Bellevue Community College. He is one of the authors of the Appraisal Institute's current industrial textbook, Appraising Industrial Properties, and authored Telecommunications Infrastructure Properties in The Appraisal Journal (Summer 2005).

His focus has been on lending, corporate, institutional and pension fund appraisals, however he has also been involved with arbitration, litigation and right of way work. Knowing that the commercial markets are interrelated, he has kept a broad focus on office, retail and industrial properties with analysis tailored to the needs of a diverse clientele. Retail assignments have ranged from big-box stores, including the region's largest (Fry's in Renton) to dozens of neighborhood centers with their variety of anchor to pad site tenants. Office property assignments include headquarters buildings for the FAA, Boeing Computer Services, Seattle Genetics, AT&T, Group Health, Lamonts and Teledesic as well as multi-tenant buildings and high-rise structures in suburban and CBD locations. He is perhaps best known for his industrial work with assignments that include Nintendo, GE's jet engine plant, Boeing manufacturing facilities, Peterbilt Trucks, Sun Sportswear, Shasta Beverage and the former Rainier Brewery. This diverse commercial experience aided in the firm's special purpose work that ranges from multi-plex theaters, bowling alleys and cold storage facilities to batch plants, churches and airplane hangars. It has included Kenmore Air Harbor seaplane ports, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (Keyport), and the area's largest church (SeaTac) and the world's largest telco hotel and data center (Tukwila).

He is a licensed General Real Estate Appraiser in the State of Washington and is Washington State Department of Transportation approved for both appraisal and appraisal review. He currently serves as a board member for the Seattle Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and has served on a variety of Seattle Appraisal Institute committees including Ethics & Counseling, Experience Review, Candidates Guidance and currently serves as the Chapter's Newsreal Editor. He spent 12 years on the Bothell Shorelines Hearing Board. He grew up in Ballard and with his wife, Debbie, raised two sons in Bothell.
